Many small business owners and marketers are faced with the dilemma: What is more important, Social Media Marketing or Search Marketing? From what we here at 360 Degrees have seen so far by working with clients and researching, there’s no clear winner. While there are times when one one would be more beneficial than the other – as the infographic below by MDG Advertising shows – we prefer to utilize them both for our internet marketing strategy in order to achieve our client’s goals better.
Local visitors are more likely to use search engines while searching for a local business. However, we’ve seen an increase in utilization of social media by potential customers to get thoughts and opinions about a local business they’re interested in knowing more about. Search marketing is also more important in a B2B (business-to-business) relationship. Social media, on the other hand, offers more interactivity and ability for companies to communicate with their customers. Social media also helps with brand awareness, which translates into a longer term benefit.
What is your experience and opinion, which strategy has proved more beneficial to you?
